Bao Yen district leaders reported on the damage caused by storm No. 3 and the recovery work in the area.

Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh said that the historic storm and its circulation have caused severe damage over a very large area, including Lao Cai in general and Bao Yen in particular. Currently, there are many missing people who have not been found, and many people with serious injuries will have to continue to be transferred to other hospitals for treatment. Along with the search and rescue work, many families are struggling to overcome the consequences of the floods to soon stabilize their lives.

“What I want to say is that floods have caused severe damage to both urban and rural areas, and mountainous areas. In rural and mountainous areas, the majority of the people affected are ethnic minorities, including many poor households. Not only have they lost their homes, their land, and their properties, but they have also lost their lives, making their already difficult lives even more difficult,” said Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Minorities Committee Hau A Lenh.

Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh presented support worth 300 million VND to the people of Bao Yen district.

Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh hopes that localities will closely follow the direction of the Politburo, the Prime Minister's telegram, and the direction of the province to continue focusing on searching for missing people, supporting families of deceased people to take care of funerals, treating injured people, and promptly supporting necessities so that people can soon stabilize their lives.

Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh requested that localities focus on collecting statistics, reviewing, and classifying the affected subjects and the extent of damage to propose appropriate support policies, so as not to let people suffer.

“It is forecasted that there will be many more storms from now until the end of the year, so the locality needs to do a good job of propaganda, instructing people on measures to prevent floods, landslides, and learn from Lang Nu village’s experience,” Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh emphasized.

Next, Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh came to encourage, share and give gifts to support families with people who died or went missing due to floods and landslides in Mui 3 village, Yen Son commune, Bao Yen district (photo below).
