Bat Xat district has many potentials and advantages for tourism development. In addition to exploiting indigenous cultural values, the locality is aiming to exploit tours and routes to experience and explore the wild beauty of the highlands, with the goal of building tourism into a spearhead economic sector.

To exploit tourism potential, Bat Xat district has prepared for many terms, especially the work of reviewing and statistics on resources, planning and developing connecting traffic infrastructure. From 2016 to present, with the implementation of Project No. 04/DA-HU on "Developing tourism associated with preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups in Bat Xat district in the period of 2016-2020"; Project No. 05-DA/HU on "Developing tourism associated with preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups in Bat Xat district in the period of 2020-2025", Bat Xat district has focused on mobilizing resources; strengthening promotion and attracting investment, focusing on high-end resort tourism projects in key tourist areas of the district: Y Ty, A Lu; Unique tourism products, exclusively available in Sang Ma Sao, Trinh Tuong, Muong Hum communes... to attract businesses and investors to develop new and special tourism products according to the plan

Focus on developing a variety of tourism products, paying attention to high-end resort tourism products; community cultural ecotourism products associated with recognized landscapes and cultural heritages such as: national scenic relic The Pa terraced fields; provincial scenic relic Pavie ancient stone road; products to conquer peaks (Pu Ta Leng peak 3,049m, Ky Quan San 3,046m, Nhiu Co San 2,965m, Lao Than 2,860m...); highland fairs in Muong Hum, Y Ty; Spiritual tourism program along the Red River associated with Trinh Tuong Temple and Lung Po Flagpole. Preserving and promoting the cultural values of traditional festivals: going to the fields festival; Put Tong festival; forest worshiping ceremony (Ga Ma Gio), Kho Gia Gia festival...
As of September 2024, Bat Xat district welcomed nearly 600,000 visitors, with total revenue from tourism activities reaching 772.7 billion VND, contributing significantly to revenue, bringing the proportion of tourism revenue in the structure of the trade - service sector in the district to nearly 5.3%.
To achieve the goal of welcoming 1.8 million visitors by 2030, with an average annual tourism growth rate of over 20%, Bat Xat district continues to prioritize resources, invest in connecting traffic infrastructure, speed up the progress of key traffic projects under implementation, focusing on connecting Y Ty with Sa Pa national tourist area and Lao Cai city, contributing to attracting and stimulating tourism demand for Bat Xat.

Accordingly, from 2020 to now , over 100 km of provincial roads have been renovated and upgraded . The remaining sections and routes that have not been invested will continue to be implemented in the coming period to achieve the goal that by the end of 2025, all provincial roads leading to the district's tourism resources will be basically renovated and upgraded to meet standards. This will be a favorable basis to attract tourists from key markets, remove the bottlenecks that have existed for many years for the development of Bat Xat tourism , and gradually realize the goal of turning Y Ty into a unique tourist area.
Speeding up planning work, on the basis of approved plans, Bat Xat district has coordinated with departments and branches to advise the province to increase the attraction of high-end tourism projects, notably the Sapa Grand Golf Course entertainment area project in Bat Xat town; Bien May resort project in Y Ty commune has been basically completed. The process of surveying and developing general plans and subdivision plans of Y Ty urban tourism has attracted the attention of many investors, organizations and large, reputable enterprises to explore investment opportunities. In 2024, on the basis of the Decision approving the adjustment of the general planning for the construction of Y Ty urban tourism, Bat Xat District People's Committee continues to complete the Project "Developing Y Ty tourism to 2030, with a vision to 2050" to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval. This is the premise for Y Ty to mobilize resources and promote investment, opening up opportunities for a new development stage.

Developing tourism associated with relics and scenic spots.

Continue to build and develop unique tourism products associated with the district's advantages, focusing on attracting high-end resort tourism projects; community tourism products, eco-tourism, cultural and spiritual tourism... Effectively coordinate the implementation of eco-tourism, entertainment and discovery products at Bat Xat nature reserve. Develop tourism products and types associated with recognized scenic relics and cultural heritages such as: The Pa terraced fields, Pavie ancient stone road; complete the construction of dossiers to propose recognition of scenic relics with typical mountain peaks and waterfalls (Pu Ta Leng peak, Ky Quan San, Nhiu Co San, Lao Than, Ong Chua waterfall...) in 2024.
Forming and effectively linking OCOP-recognized product chains with tourism activities such as: Seng Cu rice, rice wine, ginseng vermicelli, ancient tea, products processed from Hoang Sin Co tubers, farm stays, medicinal herb areas, products of the fairy silver carving craft village of the Red Dao people; rattan and bamboo weaving craft of the Ha Nhi people,... Deploying tree planting, landscape trees, maintaining and sustainably developing tourism products about typical flowers in conservation areas, highland communes, preserving environmental hygiene to attract tourists to experience./.
