Launching the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025
On the morning of April 17, at Bat Xat District Boarding Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province held a launching ceremony for the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025.Attending the launching ceremony were Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of provincial departments, branches and sectors; leaders of districts, towns and cities, and a large number of teachers and students in Bat Xat district.

In order to strongly promote and spread the reading movement in the community, since 2014, the Prime Minister has decided to choose April 21 every year as Vietnam Book Day and from 2021 as Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day. This year, the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day takes place with the messages: "Reading Culture - Connecting the community", "Entering the era of national growth with books", "Reading - enriching knowledge, nurturing aspirations, promoting innovation".
The launching ceremony of the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025 in the province with the theme "Together with books, entering the era of national growth" aims to contribute to implementing the policies of the Party, the State and the province on developing reading culture; affirming the position, role and importance of books in improving knowledge, skills, developing thinking, educating and training human personality... Departments, branches and localities have organized many activities in response to Book and Reading Culture Day. Up to now, hundreds of organizations and individuals inside and outside the province have donated and supported poor children in the mountainous areas of Lao Cai with about 105,000 books, worth billions of Vietnamese dong.

Since 2021, Lao Cai province has also organized the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest to arouse the passion for reading among all classes of people, especially the young generation. In 2024 alone, the contest attracted the participation of nearly 44,000 students from 303 schools in the province. The contest has created a healthy intellectual playground for students, contributing to inspiring reading, developing a reading culture from the individual to the family and community.

In order to spread the reading culture more strongly, Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested all levels, sectors and localities to continue to promote propaganda work, raise awareness of all classes of people about the role and significance of books and reading; strengthen the construction of reading spaces; Promote digital transformation in library activities, develop e-book reading platforms, apply technology to bring books to the majority of people, especially in disadvantaged areas; strengthen coordination between sectors; Mobilize the participation and companionship of agencies, enterprises, publishers and social organizations in developing a sustainable reading culture. At the same time, raise the awareness of reading of each individual; encourage and support creative activities, composition, publication and dissemination of cultural publications, publishing books on Lao Cai history and culture.
At the launching ceremony, students had the opportunity to interact and share about the meaning of reading, how to choose books and spread reading culture in the community.
