Den Thang preserves and promotes the Mong ethnic culture

Den Thang (Bat Xat) is one of the communes where many Mong ethnic people live. Therefore, preserving and promoting the traditional cultural beauty of the Mong people is the task that the Party committees and local authorities here are very interested in and supported by the people.
Students are guided directly by the teacher.

Den Thang Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities Semi-boarding School currently has 385 students, most of which are children of the Mong ethnic group. In order to effectively implement the multicultural school model in association with the community, over the years, the school has encouraged students of all grades and classes to join clubs to preserve traditional culture such as trumpet dance, money stick dance, brocade embroidery… Most of the students in the school join one or two different clubs. 
Ly Thi Ngoc Mai shared: Joining the school's club, she was taught by her teachers and artisans about money stick dance in the commune. She was very happy and wanted to learn more dances and songs to contribute to preserving the traditional culture of her nation.
According to teacher Vu Van Thanh, Principal of Den Thang Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities Semi-boarding School, most of the students are Mong people, so the school always tries to associate learning at school and movements and activities with education, knowledge of preserving and promoting the traditional cultural beauty of the Mong people, helping them understand and love the beauty of their culture.  
The school regulates that every Monday, 100% of students and teachers wear traditional national costumes. On holidays, New Year, important events of the country, localities, schools all send art teams, sports teams to participate. In particular, the school's students won 1 Gold award and 2 Bronze medals at the 8th Phu Dong Health Association in Lao Cai province - in 2020. It is a proud achievement for the school to continue to maintain and develop effective promotion of clubs to preserve traditional national culture in schools.

Students join the club to preserve the traditional culture of the Mong people

At the end of last August, the People's Committee of Den Thang Commune has launched the Hmong folk, folk dance and traditional folk music club with the core members being students from the clubs of the Den Thang Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities Semi-boarding School. The launch of the club is a solution to realize the training contents that the Department of Grassroots Culture (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in collaboration with the Lao Cai Department of Culture and Sports implement to support the locality to build the model "Preserving and promoting the culture, civilization and health of the Mong ethnic group". Accordingly, there are 5 officials and artisans (playing the trumpet, playing the erhu, money stick dancing) who have been instructed by experts to add some folk songs, folk dances and folk music to become teachers to the local youth generation. 

Mr. Sung A Cu, commune cultural officer, Chairman of the Hmong traditional folk music, folk dance and folk music club said: The club has 55 members, including 5 teachers and 50 students to join once a month. I am also one of the people who have been instructed to participate in teaching the art of dancing, singing and folk songs of the Mong people to the members of the club.

Although there are still many difficulties because Den Thang is one of the communes with the highest rate of poor households in the province, the State's interest in opening training classes in the locality, and supporting costumes and musical instruments to establish clubs and put into operation are favorable conditions for the commune to build effective programs and activities, preserve and promote the cultural identity of the Mong ethnic group.
