The Tay people in Hop Thanh restored the sacred rituals under the banian tree of the village

The Tu Ti ceremony was held on March 14 (the second day of the second month of the lunar calendar) by the Tay people in Cang 1,2 village, Hop Thanh commune, Lao Cai city (worshiping tutelary god of the village).

Tu Ti is an ancient ritual that demonstrates the beauty of the Tay people's spiritual culture that has existed for hundreds of years in Hop Thanh. Since the small shrine under the banian tree was burned down in 1979 due to a large fire, people lost their place of worship, and the Tu Ti ritual was also fading away. To preserve their ancestors' unique culture, the Tay people of Hop Thanh banded together this year to donate land, contribute to the temple's reconstruction, and restore the Tu Ti ritual.

The ceremony takes place at the shrine yard under the largest banian tree of the village. Banian tree is hundreds of years old.

Families in the village bring rituals to the shrine.

Together we are about to celebrate the ceremony and burn incense to perform the ritual of worshiping.

After the ceremony, the priest will pray to tutelary god of the village to help people be healthy, happy, and have a good harvest

Local leaders bow together to tutelary god of the village, pray for people to have a peaceful life.

People perform the ritual in front of the shrine of tutelary god of the village

After the ceremony will come to the festival, people will dance and sing at the shrine yard

Plant trees right next to the shrine to contribute to landscape and forest development

People enjoy the rituals right at the shrine yard, mentally prepare to step into a new planting crop.
